One of the most challenging and frustrating things I have encountered as a retoucher is logo removal. Not all logos are difficult to remove. But logos found on Footballs, basketballs, jerseys, and textured items can be extremely difficult. When logos are removed it is usually on a 3D object meaning slight tonality shifts can make it difficult to clone. Here are a few examples of difficult and moderately difficult logos I have removed. The first is an American football. Since a football has a flatter shape than a basketball it is a bit easier. But not by much.
This image may look simple enough, however, in the close up (if you would like to see the highres file please email me) the book is made of a textured linen. This is not a simple cut and paste or clone job. It requires very precise cloning to match the grain of the linen and the varying tonality shifts.

This is a simpler clone job, a rugby ball. In my 3 years working at Rubberball I have removed logos from many items including, clothing, shoes, storefronts, ski and snowboard equipment and much more. Please continue to check my blog periodically because I am adding new content of my post production/retouching portfolio almost daily.
